About
Music from the Heart of the Lowcountry
Freeson is a singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist based in Charleston, South Carolina. Drawing from blues, Americana, and Southern soul, his music reflects the landscapes and stories of the Lowcountry.
With three albums — So High Solo and Train Ain't Gonna Stop: Vol 1 & Vol 2 — Freeson brings raw, honest songwriting born from lived experience, restless questions, and the spaces between certainty and doubt. He writes about the moments that shape us—the love we hold onto, the losses we carry, the choices that haunt us, and the questions that refuse to go away.
His songwriting is a way of making sense of an often-confusing world by turning personal experiences into stories, and stories into questions: Why are we here? What gives a life meaning? What does it mean to truly know ourselves and one another?
"My music lives somewhere between confession and contemplation—grounded in the deeply personal, but always reaching for something universal. I don't write because I have all the answers. I write because I'm still searching, and every song is another attempt to understand the journey" ~Richard Scott Freeson
Beyond performing, Freeson offers voice coaching and studio recording sessions for artists at every level.
